Fact Sheet: International Maritime Piracy. Piracy at sea is a worldwide phenomenon which has affected not only the coasts of Africa, but also Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Yemen, and Venezuela. NOTICE: For a while, we have tried to construct a live resource focusing on maritime piracy based on information supplied by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC)'s Commercial Crime Services (CCS). However, the organization changes URLs, links, and pages with such a frequency that makes it impossible to provide an up-to-date service. Moreover, with every periodic reinvention (every few months), new glitches emerge and the information becomes ever more restrictive. For these reasons, the links below remain as an example of the problems noted, but we begin the construction of a new resources based on information supplied by U.S. DOD, UN, and other trustworthy organizations.
